As potentially the biggest title set to release on Nintendo’s consoles this year, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS also seems set to include a few other surprises, according to Nintendo, in conjunction with its upcoming Nintendo Figurine Platform.
Stephan Bole, managing director of Nintendo France, confirmed in an interview that the upcoming Super Smash Bros. title on Wii U will also include NFC technology support, as mentioned in a statement that the support between these devices will be shown off at E3 2014:
“E3 will be an opportunity to show the use of NFC technology on Nintendo consoles. NFC will be used in the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros.“
Much like Skylanders and Disney Infinity, Nintendo’s upcoming Figurine Platform will provide a collection of toys that will interact digitally with a variety of other upcoming titles. Currently, Nintendo plans to release the first figurines and NFC-compatible titles by the end of 2014 – none have specifically been announced with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U in mind, but stay tuned for more details.
