Independent publisher and developer Digital Extremes and indie developer Human Head Studios announced the development of a new game today, revealing a debut trailer and detailing bullet-hell MMO permadeath goodness.

The upcoming game from the above-referenced partnership is called Survived By. It is a retro-inspired MMO with bullet hell, RPG, and permadeath elements. Teaming up with up to 100 other players, you will fight alongside your allies to become an ever-stronger character. When your character dies, it's not exactly over, though. Upon death, a descendant of the player's character is born and takes up the torch into the dark.

In Survived By, players will inhabit a fantasy world stricken by war. As the last remnant of humanity, it will be up to you to fight back hordes of monstrous enemies.

If you're interested in the game, you can sign up for the Closed Alpha beginning later this year. Survived By will also be available to play at PAX West this Friday, September 1 through Monday, September 4.

When it releases, the game will be a free-to-play game, but the team promises that every item in the game can be earned free of charge. For more information on Survived By, you can visit the game's official website. At this time, no information has been provided regarding the game's potential release date or platforms.
