Dead Island: Riptide developers Deep Silver released a 10 minute gameplay video today, detailing a survival mission and new elements to be found in the upcoming game.

Alpha Footage of the mission showed the player steering boats--a new vehicle in Riptide--through a murky swamp and looking for items to help fortify the hub area. The footage showed the player taking gatling guns off a fallen helicopter and using them as manned-turrets on base, showed the ability to set up chain-linked fences to fortify open spaces between walls, and show the player setting up mines and propane tanks to set up traps for incoming zombies. Unsurprisingly, the footage also showed a bunch of useless people standing around near walls.

The mission was reminiscent of the Survival and Horde modes found in many multiplayer games, and tasked the player with keeping every ally alive while fighting off zombies and using lulls in between waves to re-fortify the base.

This is the first footage released so far of actual in-game gameplay, besides some screenshots and teasers. The game is set to release on April 23, 2013, for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, and will also have a "Rigor Mortis" Edition that comes with extra in-game unlockable content and more.
