Irrational Games, the studio led by Ken Levine that lead development on the Bioshock series, was closed in 2014, leaving the future of the series unclear. 2K remained in control of the series and Ken Levine had gone on to work at a smaller studio with Take Two. CEO Strauss Zelnck spoke recently at an investor's conference and revealed details about a future title as well as Ken Levine's next game.

On Bioshock, Zelnck revealed that a continuation of the series will happen eventually in some way:

"The franchise is in the hands of 2K. They'll make announcements in due time about any upcoming releases. But BioShock is unquestionably a permanent franchise for our company and one that we do believe in."

As for Levine, Zelnck said that the title he is working on is very exciting and will be some kind of mystery sci-fi game:

"I'm not going to steal Ken's thunder, but we're thrilled to be in business with Ken. What I can say is you would expect that Ken would work on something highly creative and innovative. I think that would be a reasonable expectation for whatever he does next."
