Texas-based developer Dead Mage has revealed to DualShockers that its upcoming samurai RPG, Tale of Ronin, will be getting a series of comics in the build-up to the game's release that introduces it's world and Ronin characters.

Better yet, the series of comics kicks off today with the first comic, which Dead Mage provided to us, and which you can find all the way at the bottom of the article.

Tale of Ronin is an upcoming RPG that is aiming to tell and explore the human side of the Samurai. You control a Ronin, a Samurai with no lord of master, in a dynamic world that is brewing with turmoil and violence that you will have to navigate through and survive. The game's world -- which is said to walk the fine-line between reality and fantasy  -- is brought to life through a beautiful Sumie art style, which you can see for yourself via the aforementioned comic.

In addition to simultaneous turn-based combat that focuses on the details of Katana swordsmanship, there is also an adventure game layer that sees you exploring your way through a feudal Japan world, making choices along the way that will effect your progress.

Notably, the game features a Sekai System, which is to say if you die, the world lives on, and you continue the story as a new Ronin in the same world, perhaps even a Ronin who was your comrade before.

Tale of Ronin is in development for PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, and PC, aiming to release in 2018. If you haven't already, be sure to check out our brand-new interview with the game's designer (and the studio head of Dead Mage), Amir Fassihi, where we further flesh out the game's inspirations, story, gameplay, dialogue choices, and much more.
