One of the three new Tales releases Namco Bandai announced a few weeks back is the PSP title Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3. If you’re familiar with past entries in this off-shoot franchise to the Tales games, you’ll know that these are basically fan service titles, which take tons of characters from previous Tales games and tasks you with the job of finding them all. Many of them end up joining your party, of course.
It seems that many things have been improved from the previous titles, including a huge jump in the number of previous Tales characters that you’ll be able to find throughout the game. Some new characters include one of my favorite Tales characters, Judith (Tales of Vesperia), as well as Chersea Tone (Tales of Destiny), Norma Biatty (Tales of Legendia), Asbel Lhant (Tales of Graces) and Kohak Hearts (Tales of Hearts). There are many others, as well.
The basis of the story revolves around the new character, Kanonno Grassvalley, who travels around the world helping people after her parents are killed in a war. Your main character, which is created at the beginning of the game, runs into Kanonno and joins her on her quests to help people.
The original Radiant Mythology title did come out in North America, but the last one hasn’t and, given Namco’s track record with releasing Tales games here recently, I have doubts that this one will see the light of day here, either. But, let’s keep a positive attitude and keep hoping that trend will change.
Below I’ve tossed a bunch of new screens and artwork for the game, which will include, of course, many familiar faces if you’ve been a fan of the entire franchise for many years.
