Tales of Xillia is without a doubt one of the best looking JRPGs released in Japan in the last few years, but in the future that "in Japan" part may become just a memory of the past, as a release of the PS3 exclusive in the west might soon become a reality.

On March the 20th Namco Bandai filed a trademark application (meaning that the trademark isn't registered yet, but the request has been received) for "Tales of Xillia" in the European Union.

While this isn't in any shape of form equivalent to an official release announcement, it's a lot better than nothing, and will surely rekindle hope in those that would like to see the lovely character design of Kosuke Fujishima and Mutsumi Inomata paired with English dialogue.

At the moment no registration has been published for the United States, but we'll keep you posted if and when that will change.  You can see the entry for the European trademark below.
