Team Fortress 2: Now 100% Free to Play!!!

on June 24, 2011 10:00 AM

There’s been whispers about this on the Interwebs, but Valve finally made it official yesterday: Team Fortress 2 is now free to play. What that means is the program is free, and and playing it is free; the only thing that’ll be microtransition-based is the items, hats, and whatnot.

As a TF2 player from the very beginning, this is perfectly fine with me. You can still obtain all the items from random drops, and there’s no detriment to the actual gameplay. I consider Team Fortress 2 to be the best multiplayer game of this generation, which makes it that much more monumental that Valve is offering it for free. Bravo, Valve.
