Update: Activision has released their YouTube version of the Extinction Mode trailer and this article has been updated accordingly.
Call of Duty has had us fight hordes of zombies and countless armies of the undead in the past several installments, but now it looks like Call of Duty: Ghosts might be shaking things up a bit by making things a bit more “out of this world.”
Two new sources, one official and one un-official, have outed a new mode coming to the latest installment of the Call of Duty series called “Extinction Mode.” Activision released a short teaser video through their official Call of Duty Instagram account, while a whole batch of leaked gameplay screenshots also appeared on imgur.
Based on the screenshots of fighting “space bugs” and using an interstellar drill to mine resources or complete objectives, Extinction Mode appears similar in concept to the popular Zombie Mode from past installments of the Call of Duty series, where this time players will be fighting alien forces while completing objectives (in this case, apparently using a space drill).
