Nowadays only the biggest, most highly publicized games net sales in the millions of units. It has been said that many companies can yield profit from a game selling in the hundreds of thousands.  That seems to have been the case with Tecmo Koei and Dead or Alive 5. The publisher has announced that worldwide sales of its graphically gorgeous fighter have cleared 580,000 units.

While a title from a franchise like Call of Duty could clear that total in a day or so, this is apparently quite a good total for DOA5. These sales helped contribute to a yield of nearly $11 million in operating profits for the consumer game division. Tecmo also noted that DLC - which DOA5 has plenty of - has been selling well.

A third batch of pricey DLC costumes will be available for Dead or Alive 5 tomorrow.
