thatgamestudio’s Matt Nava, art director for Journey, and BLUECANVAS Magazine are working together to give gamers a look behind the art for the game Journey this September. The Art of Journey will give gamers a look at what styles influenced the game, a behind the scenes view of the narrative, and goals set that shaped the look of the game.

The book will show off Journey’s landscapes, cut-scenes, and the robed traveler. There will be concept art, pencil drawings, and 3D models printed on art-quality paper in the hardcovered book.

There will also be a free companion app for mobile devices that will allow readers to interact with the book in different ways and view the models from the game.

Also featured is a special fan art selection that includes pieces chosen by the team behind the game. Those that purchase the book also receive a free voucher to download the game’s soundtrack to their PS3.

Gamers who are into getting a look behind the scenes of game development will want to pick up this book that shows off the art for a beautiful game.
