Since its initial reveal back in 2013, The Division has long been a highly-anticipated title and true to its setting of a post-apocalyptic New York City, Microsoft and Ubisoft both kicked off the launch week of its third-person shooter/RPG hybrid.
Last night in the heart of midtown Manhattan where The Division‘s setting takes place, Ubisoft and Microsoft held its launch event for its long-awaited shooter at the Microsoft Store on Fifth Avenue.
Along with its celebrations leading up to the game’s release at midnight, attendees at the event were able to pre-order/pick up the game and get an exclusive poster, while the night was also filled with special giveaways of The Division merchandise, “rationed” food bags were given away (in brown paper bags), and plenty of kiosks and consoles were set up for attendees to play the game leading up to its launch.
Joining in the celebrations were also several notable guests including Ubisoft producer Tony Sturtzel and The Division game director Terry Spier, Xbox’s Larry Hryb (“Major Nelson”), and popular NYC-based Twitch streamers Swiftor and Futureman Gaming were also on hand in the event’s upstairs area to livestream matches of the game throughout the night.
The Division is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC – you can check out our full gallery of photos from the big launch event at New York City’s Microsoft Store below:
