Update: Apparently Utada-san's participation in Kindom Hearts III's soundtrack is now undecided, as specified with a follow-up tweet.

The original article is below:

Fans of the Kingdom Hearts series should be quite familiar with the instantly recognizable angelic voice of the Japanese superstar Utada Hikaru. She performed both "Simple and Clean ("Hikari" in Japan)" for the original Kingdom Hearts and "Sanctuary ("Passion" in Japan)" for its sequel Kingdom Hearts II. Terazune Utada, Utada Hikaru's father, has confirmed via Twitter that she will indeed be reprising her role and recording the theme song for Kingdom Hearts III.

Utada is one of the best selling Japanese recording artists of all time. Her debut album "First Love" is the best selling Japanese (and quite possibly Asian) album ever, and all of her original albums and most of her singles have all claimed the top spot on the sales charts. I have "Simple and Clean" to thank for getting me into Japanese music, which I now listen to very frequently and almost exclusively, so of course I feel very strongly about her. Her mother died earlier this year.

I can't wait to hear what she'll come up with. Just like that I'm even more excited about Kingdom Hearts III.
