The Last of Us Remastered: Amazon, Target and Best Buy Remove June 20th Release Date

on April 26, 2014 3:15 PM

Earlier this month retailers like Amazon, Target and Best Buy pegged the release date of The Last of Us to June 20th.

The situation has now changed, as all three retailers removed that date. Amazon and Target changed it to December 31st, while Best Buy now just has a “not yet announced.”

Reddit user ViperChristian also received today a mail from Amazon Canada warning him that the game now has an estimate shipping date of January 5th (which is the first business day after December 31st).

Of course this doesn’t mean that the game will really launch on December 31st, as that kind of date is normally just a placeholder used by retailers when they just know a game will launch in a certain year but they don’t know the specific date. Yet, the June 20th release date now seems to be much less likely, and the simultaneous removal probably means that they might have been asked directly by Sony to make the change.
