The Last of Us Remastered’s Maps on PS4 Load in About 50 Seconds; 1080p/60 FPS Video “Coming Soon™”

During a livestream on Twitch TV Naughty Dog showcased a few maps of the multiplayer of The Last of Us Remastered, allowing us to time how long it takes for Sony’s new console to load a match.

The two maps we timed took respectively 49 and 52 seconds to load. The time is a bit longer if you count the window in which the screen is black just before the match, adding roughly another 8 seconds. Of course there will be a degree of variation depending on the map (since all maps have different assets to load) and on the speed of the hard disk used.

Update: we timed four more maps during a second livestream, and they clocked respectively 50, 49, 50 and 54 seconds. Interestingly, this means that loading times don’t show too much variation. On the PS3 they were much more variable depending on map.

In addition to that, if livestreams  aren’t good enough for your taste, we got word from Multiplayer Designer Quentin Cobb on Twitter, who mentioned that 1080p, 60 frames per second footage is “Coming Soon™”

Guess it has to be really soon, since the game will be out in five days.

You can see more of the multiplayer of the game on PS4 here, and read about the upcoming new DLC here.
