The Last Story Details Emerge

I’ve neglected mentioning Mistwalker’s latest RPG endeavor here, but I intend to rectify that situation this very moment. In the latest issues of Famitsu and Go Nintendo, we received some more screens (although only through the magic of a 1990s-era scanner) and artwork for the title, as well as a few tiny details for this game that is otherwise shrouded in mystery.

There is apparently an “active time” element to the battle system. When you choose to cast a spell, the characters begin an animation, and you see glowy, sparkly things on-screen. A counter over the character’s head counts down to when the spell is cast. There also seems to be some form of aggression mechanics for enemies, as they will focus on spell-casters, or anyone hitting them hard.

Like I said, not a lot of details. But, we do have a couple scans below, so check them out. Yes, this is a Wii game and yes, those visuals look pretty outstanding for the system. This is becoming a trend with these JRPGs on the Wii lately, and that’s a good thing! I’ll be keeping a close eye on The Last Story from now on as more assets are released. Stay tuned!
