The Need for Speed Film’s Initial Teaser is Better than Expected

It is no secret that the consensus among gamers was that the potential of Need for Speed delivering anything memorable outside of Emmy-award winning actor Aaron Paul of AMC’s Breaking Bad was low. Video game film adaptations simply have the worst track record of all adaptable nerd properties, and the film has the added responsibility of not coming off as a Fast & Furious clone – the two franchises are synonymous in imagery and setting.

The trailer is surprisingly good, albeit is does contain some imagery that is akin to the aforementioned Fast & Furious franchise. Aaron Paul’s casting definitely attracted my curiosity, but the film has yet to grab my attention. We will have to wait until the next trailer to see. Yeah bitch!

Need for Speed was written by John Gatins and George Nolfi, is being directed by Scott Waugh, and will star Aaron Paul, Imogen Poots, Dominic Cooper, and Kid Cudi. The film is scheduled to be released on March 14th, 2014 in the United States.
