Today, developer Deck13 and publisher Focus Home Interactive’s upcoming hardcore action RPG, The Surge, received 14 new minutes of new, raw gameplay footage.

The new footage is all uncut gameplay, featuring director commentary from Deck13 Game Designer Adam Hetenyi. In the video, you will explore the dystopian environments in CREO’s mysterious industrial and RND complex, the Abandoned Laboratories.

The gameplay footage also shows how you can loot weapons and armor from enemies after duels, and how during combat you will want to take advantage of the game’s unique limb-targeting system to attack and cut off parts of the enemy you want to equip or craft.

Targeting a part of the enemy which is armored will deal less damage, but you will earn the opportunity to deal a finishing blow that will cut off the limb in-tact, allowing you to loot the spoils, gain blueprints, and tech-scrap used to level up your exoskeleton.

As you can in the video, The Surge features vertical and horizontal attacks, which are used in combination with parry’s, ducks and jumps as well as a boosted dodge to create swift, snappy, precise combat situations.

The Surge, is set to release sometime in May, for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Below, you can check out the new footage.
