On the heels of its impending release tomorrow, the highly-anticipated miniseries The Walking Dead: Michonne will bring one of the most popular characters from The Walking Dead universe into the mix of Telltale Games' episodic series, with the studio sharing some new information on the three-episode series.

Earlier this month the studio released an extended preview of the first episode of The Walking Dead: Michonne, while this morning also saw the release of the game's launch trailer. However, Telltale Games has taken to Twitter to share new information on the mini-series and what to expect.

While it was previously known that the new mini-series would take place from Michonne's perspective roughly between issues #126 and #139 of the comic series (bringing it fairly close to the current story arc), Telltale shared that in terms of its episodic adaptation of The Walking Dead, the Michonne series "is a story that stands apart from Lee & Clem's" in the previous seasons of their series.

Telltale explained that no old save files are needed either to play The Walking Dead: Michonne, and also citing that "no experience playing/reading/watching [The Walking Dead]" is needed either, indicating this is intended more as a standalone experience that fans both new and old can appreciate, without needing specific knowledge of previous The Walking Dead storylines, from either the comics, TV series, or games.

The Walking Dead: Michonne releases for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android on February 23rd, 2016.
