The Walking Dead Mobile Game Announced to Coincide with Next Season of AMC TV Series

The Walking Dead started out as a popular comic series, but ended up as one of the biggest entertainment entities around: with several video games having already been released from the property, a new game for mobile appears to be on its way in the near future.

Announced by AMC, producers of The Walking Dead TV series, a new mobile title based on the property will be developed in conjunction with developer Next Games (based in Finland) and released to coincide with the series’ fifth season, which will begin in October 2014. As of now the title is unnamed and no other details have been provided, but presumably the mobile game will incorporate the action and intensity of the TV series, as mentioned by Teemu Huuhtanen, CEO at Next Games.

In a statement on the upcoming The Walking Dead mobile game, Huuhtanen mentioned:

“Our take on the undead survival franchise will match the against-all-odds action and moment-to-moment tension of the TV series. We want to find that sweet spot where gameplay and narrative inform and reinforce one another. I can confidently state it’s unlike anything we’ve seen from The Walking Dead franchise on home or mobile gaming hardware before.”

AMC President Charlie Collier also added:

“We chose to team up with Next Games because of their outstanding creative and technical talent, as well as a willingness to re-imagine the unique and compelling world of The Walking Dead, which has built a significant and passionate global fan community.”

Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming The Walking Dead mobile title.
