During a livestream on Twitch hosted by GoG.com, CD Projekt RED explained an interesting point about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

According to the developers, at the beginning of the game Geralt will interact with a character (possibly Dandelion, but the name wasn't mentioned to avoid spoilers. It was only said that he's "a guy") who will sing the tale of Geralt's past deeds, and the player will be able to correct his statements, effectively deciding how past choices made in The Witcher and The Witcher 2 are going to affect the story of the new game.

This is necessary, as the previous games weren't on PS4 and Xbox One, making importing previous save games not practical. It will also let new players that didn't enjoy the past two games (seriously, what's wrong with you?) to shape Geralt's past actions to their personal preferences.

Unfortunately no details were given on the ability to actually import save games for PC gamers, who already played the game on the same platform.
