As one of the most-anticipated new releases of the year, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has already shown some impressive visuals and a world rich with life and magic, and yet one of the game's newly-revealed features might just be the most revolutionary yet: characters' beards that will grow over time, in-game.

Reports from an extended play session by German magazine Gamestar revealed plenty of new details about the upcoming third entry in the RPG series - one new piece of information in particular reveals that main protagonist Geralt will sport some impressive facial hair of many styles - even more impressively though is that Geralt's facial hair will be able to grow over time.

In a statement with Eurogamer, CD Projekt RED communications chief Michał Platkow-Gilewski gave more insight on the unexpected feature, detailing:

"The beard grows as time passes and when Geralt moves between locations. The beard has several "states" and these states determine its length - the longest is really long but it's not Gandalf-long."

While Platkow-Gilewski gave these insights into how Geralt's facial hair can change over time, he did also mention that applying the Beard and Hairstyle DLC Pack, one of the 16 free content packs coming to The Witcher 3, will not initiate facial hair growth, as he explained:

"When you download the free Beard and Hairstyle DLC the growth of the beard will stop because we decided that when players want a predefined look, it would be weird to require from them to reapply it time after time."

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on May 19th, 2015.
