The Japanese 3DS game Tomodachi Life is coming to North America and Europe on June 6.
The westernized version of the game will allow player to control Nintendo’s signature avatars through their bizarre interactions on their personal island-world. Probably best described as a life-simulator a game preview shows characters competing for each others affections, playing with cats and dancing ritualistically around a Virtual-Boy console.
“The thing that surprises me about Tomodachi Life is how it gets its hooks in you in unexpected ways,”said Nintendo America’s director of product marketing, Bill Trinen to Polygon. “You know, when I first started playing the game, I was a little unsure of whether or not it was going to be the kind of thing that I would really enjoy. Very quickly, I found myself constantly pulling out my 3DS to check on my island and my Mii characters and see what was happening with them. It was really strangely compelling.”
The release date was announced during a preview on yesterday’s Nintendo Direct.
