Trailer for Abobo’s Big Adventure is An 80’s Kid’s Wet Dream

Equal parts WTF and OMG, this new announcement trailer for Abobo’s Big Adventure seriously has me squealing like a little boy from the 90’s who’s just seen the Crossfire commercial. I’ve never heard of the game previously, but apparently the developers (appropriately named Team Bobo) hail it as the ultimate tribute to NES games.

The story goes that Abobo (whom retroheads will know as a recurring enemy in the Double Dragon series) must quest through eight bizarre-yet-immediately-familiar worlds to rescue his kidnapped son, Aboboy. What follows is, well, see for yourself.

…and there you have it. Among all the other amazeballs tributes, there’s something about Abobo stuffed into a Mega Man suit that makes me explode in giggles and glee. Abobo’s Big Adventure is scheduled to be a free Flash game release sometime in 2011. Considering we have only a month and a half of 2011 left, it had better well be soon.

Allen is an utter whore of a gamer; he's completely open-minded to all games, be they AAA blockbusters or $5 casual children's games. His focus is on indie games specifically, valuing gameplay and ingenuity over sparkly visuals and ridiculous gimmicks. When he's not geeking out over the newest art game, he's out toning his sexy, sculpted shoulders while surfing epic 1.5ft waves, or having a good time with local, high-gravity microbrews.
