Trophies and No Mandatory Install for FFXIII

It seems like the majority of PS3 games these days have some sort of mandatory install, which tends to eat up hard drive space pretty quickly, especially on lower capacity 40GB systems, like mine.  While it may be unexpected, Final Fantasy XIII will not have any form of mandatory installation.  You will, however, be given the option to do so, if you feel it’s warranted.  It appears loading times are cut down as is, because the game only loads when the player transitions between a town and field setting.  We know battles will not be like FFXII and that they will have some sort of transition onto a battle screen, I wonder if that’s near instantaneous or if there will be slight loading time there, as well?

In addition to the news about the installation, it has also been confirmed that FFXIII will have trophies – this is, obviously, a Sony requirement for all games that have released since January 1, 2009.  The game comes out in roughly two months in Japan and looks to be seeing a spring 2010 release in North America.
