Turbine Games Explains Why Destruction Is Good For Infinite Crisis

You can’t have a superhero game without destruction. That’s why Turbine Games, the developers behind the multiplayer arena game Infinite Crisis, have released a new behind-the-scenes trailer, which shows off the destructive capabilities of the game.

Turbine Games’ Cardell Kerr, the creative director, wanted the stages of Infinite Crisis to be “always reacting to superheroes.” And as Chris Clay, the lead champion designer says, “You’re not really a superhero unless you’re picking up and throwing a car.” As a longtime DC Comics fan, I can confirm that DC’s superheroes really, really love throwing cars at each other. The video discusses the destructive capabilities present in the game, and why they’re important to keep the game feeling real.

Check out the video below, which also shows off commentary from Brent Schmidt, the lead content designer, Jeffrey Steefel, the executive producer, Dan Parke, the game’s system designer and Steve Ashley, the lead artist.

Turbine Games encourage prospective players to sign up for the Infinite Crisis Closed Beta and join the Founders Program, which unlocks special perks and assets depending on the tier players pledge. Born and raised in video games and "geek culture," Masoud has been bred off of fantasy worlds his entire life and doesn't see anything wrong with that. He loves RPGs (especially TRPGs), sandbox games, the sci-fi genre, dieselpunk, art deco, and anything that allows him to create. Having graduated from John Jay College with a degree in English and a minor in Creative Writing, Masoud hopes to one day pen the same novels, comics, movies, and video games he enjoys escaping into when the real world gets too boring.
