Forza Motorsport 5 has just been released, but apparently Microsoft and Turn 10 are already hiring to work on the physics engine of the next entry of the franchise, as disclosed by a career opportunity ad posted today.

Turn 10 Studios, creators of the highly successful Forza Motorsport series, is looking for an experienced physics developer to join us at our studios in Redmond, WA. We are looking for a great candidate that can push the envelope of physics in the racing genre. This is a fantastic opportunity for a physics developer – Forza is the perfect game to really showcase a great physics engine! Excellent technical and communication skills are critical. You must be able to work equally well with the development, design, and test teams.
While it’s most likely for the next game in the Forza franchise to be at the very least in the planning stage, as the physics engine is normally not something that receives relevant work after release, we should of course remember that no announcement has been made yet by either Microsoft or Turn 10, so we should still take this with a good pinch or salt or two.
One thing is for sure: Turn 10 paid a lot more attention to the details of the physics engine in Forza Motorsport 5 compared to the fourth chapter of the franchise, especially on the fronts of tire and suspension models. Is the Redmond-based studio aiming to inch even closer to actual simulation with Forza Motorsport 6? For now all we can do is stand by and see what the future will bring.
