Twilight Princess HD’s amiibo Features Revealed; Increased Difficulty, Arena Dungeon, and More

It seems like Nintendo is starting to better integrate amiibo functionality in their games. Thanks to a recent trailer from Nintendo Deutschland (below), we now know which amiibo will be utilized in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD for Wii U.

According to the video, players will be able to use the Wolf Link, Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf amiibo.

The Wolf Link amiibo will unlock the Cave of Shadows — an arena challenge mode where you take on waves of enemies. After beating the cave, players can tap the Wolf Link amiibo to save your hearts. After that, you can compete with your record, attempting to beat the Cave without being hit once.

Meanwhile, the Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf have a Triforce theme going on. Link, Courage, replenishes your arrows. Zelda, Wisdom, refills your hearts. Ganondorf, Power, increases the difficulty of the game (for the rest of the play session), making enemies attacks hit harder.

Last but not least, Nintendo re-confirmed that the Wolf Link amiibo will be used on the next Legend of Zelda game on Wii U. Which, in turn, is Nintendo reconfirming that The Legend of Zelda project will be a Wii U (not solely-NX) game.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD releases in the West on March 4, 2016 exclusively for Wii U. The game hits Japanese shores on March 10, 2016.
