Two Tribes to Close Doors Following the Release of RIVE

According to a recent blog post on the developer’s website, RIVE will be the last game developer Two Tribes ever make. While not the most recognizable name on the game developer scene, Two Tribes is a 15 year based out of the Netherlands specializing in smaller, downloadable titles.

Notable releases of Two Tribes include Swords & Soldiers (iOS/Wii U), Toki Tori (3DS/PC/PS3/Wii), and Toki Tori 2 (PC/PS4/Wii U). According to Two Tribe’s blog post, the decision to close doors comes with a realization that the industry has fundamentally changed since when they first opened the studio:

Long story short (grandfathers like to digress!): when running a company, you need to be on top of your game, not just in terms of the product you’re making, but business-wise too. And we just aren’t on top of the games business anymore. Therefore, it makes sense to focus our attention elsewhere, perhaps even outside the games industry. We simply don’t know yet; but we do know that RIVE is going to be our parting gift to you and we’re making damn sure it’s going to be an awesome one!

RIVE, Two Tribes’ final release, will come to PC, PlayStation 4, Wii U, and Xbox One in September 2016. Check out the trailer below for more information on what to expect:
