As gamers have aged and matured, so has the gaming industry and the games that are produced. Ubisoft, specifically, has stated that their development process on popular titles like Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell is spurred by the mantra of challenging gamers, and enriching their lives overall.

"We're trying to make people think," Ubisoft's Hugues Ricour told Total Xbox, "There's a bunch of other games that I won't name where you're very scripted and driven to just follow a path and do actions and press buttons...it's not just making games for the sake of making games." "There's definitely a conscious mandate to make sure we make fun experiences that focus on gameplay, that we enrich people's lives, and that we connect them together," he added.

Ubisoft's next major upcoming titles include South Park: The Stick of Truth, Watch_Dogs, and Tom Clancy's The Division.
