Namco Bandai has certainly been rolling out game after game of their various licensed properties: in fact, their recently revealed Heroes' VS combines Ultraman, Kamen Rider, and Gundam into one action-fighting game. Well, Ultraman is back again, this time in Ultraman Star Chronicles, a tactical RPG for the PSP. Actually, "tactical RPG" may be too tamed. Namco is calling this a game with an "Ultra Tactical Battle" system, and seems to team the various Ultraman characters of the franchise against the monsters that have appeared in the series. As the trailer below shows, players will navigate around an environment, place their units, and take on enemies with special attacks. The Ultramen have stats based on HP (for life), SP (for attacks), POW (for attacks), DEF (for, well, defense), and SPD and MOV for attack speed and mobility. The Ultramen showcase in the trailer include:

  • Ultraman, the original (Speed, Mach 5)
  • Ultraseven (Speed, Mach 7)
  • Ultraman Jack (Speed, Mach 5)
  • Ultraman Leo (Speed, Mach 7)
  • Ultraman 80 (Speed, Mach 9)
  • Ultraman Dyna (Speed, Mach 8)
  • Ultraman Cosmos (Speed, Mach 7)
  • Ultraman Zero (Speed, Mach 7)

Players will be able to unlock their favorite Ultramen and customize their team to their liking (including their skills and battle modes). Ultraman Star Chronicles will be released on March 7, 2013 for both retail and digital releases, in Japan. There's no word on whether it'll make it's way to the West, yet, and unless fans really clamor for it.
