While reviewers have been giving nothing but glowing feedback to the Naughty Dog team for Nathan Drake’s latest adventure in Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception, fans have been clamoring at the thought of getting their hands on the title. Some of the luckier (and not-so-patient) fans have managed to find the game readily available in “mom and pop” shops throughout the country. And even though the games do come pre-packaged with a label stating that online multiplayer does not go live until 11/1/11, that hasn’t stopped some players from having a look around. Among their discoveries is something that is sure to upset some folks.
When a player takes the game into multiplayer and accesses the skins menu, selections like “wetsuit Drake, Cameraman Jeff, or Nepal Chloe” are all listed with shopping carts next to them. Pretty normal stuff, especially when you think about how big of a business DLC has become in the current generation of consoles. Why give away an unlock able item when you can sell it, right?
The issue here is that when you highlight one of the selections available, you’re actually met with a preview of the item. In other words… it’s already on the disc.
Now before you head to the streets with pitchforks and torches, just know that UC3 does have “The Fortune Hunters Club”, which is their own version of an online pass. So maybe, just maybe, this will be some kind of day one bonus for those that take advantage of the program. But that may very well just be wishful thinking on my part. I guess we’ll just see how this will all play out in only a few more days.
