Thanks to a report by Digital Foundry and confirmed by Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida via Twitter, we now know that Sony is asking that all developers who design for the PS4 include the Vita’s Remote Play feature, except for games that require the use of the PS4’s Eye camera.
As shown during the PS4 event, The PS4’s hardware can compress and stream next-gen games to the Vita using WiFi, which was shown off with the upcoming game, Knack. If all of the Studios developing for the PS4 include Vita Remote Play functionality as a feature for their games, the Vita would be, excuse the play-on words, as vital to the PS4 for second-screen gaming as the Wii U. And if developers really take to it and develop exclusive content for the Vita’s screen, it could make for a powerful relationship between the PS4 and Vita this next generation.
Let us know how you feel about this news: for those of you who love the idea of second-screen gaming, do you think a PS4/Vita combo can take on Nintendo’s Wii U?
