Vivendi Has Successfully Completed Gameloft’s Hostile Takeover

on June 1, 2016 7:37 PM

As we reported earlier last week, there was a rumor that French conglomerate Vivendi was wrapping up the final stages of its hostile takeover of Guillemot-founded mobile developer, Gameloft. This rumor has been all but confirmed, following a letter from Vivendi’s CEO “welcoming” Gameloft to the international content and media group.

Vivendi has been undergoing an entrenched battle for the French-based mobile company, despite Gameloft’s continued interest to remain seperate. Those familiar with the business side of the games industry will remember that Vivendi previously bought both Activision and Blizzard — that is, until both companies were able to buy their independence back.
