Want to Play Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn When it Goes Back Up? Better Start Patching

on September 4, 2013 2:57 AM

At the moment Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is still down because of the 10 hour long maintenance that is supposed to solve the connectivity and server congestion problems that plagued the game since its early access. The maintenance is scheduled to end in about three hours, at 3 AM PDT.

If you want to play the game as soon as it goes back up, though, you may want to pull up the launcher and start patching, because the downtime brought a rather “big” surprise in the form of a patch weighing 1 GB (or 1028 MB to be precise).

Unless you have a lightning fast connection, you better get started on it.

It’s worth mentioning that Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida warned players that even if the maintenance should solve the problems by adding new servers and increasing the capacity of the existing ones, we may still experience some congestion right after the worlds open, due to the barbaric hordes of players trying to log in all at the same time.
