World of Tanks publisher Wargaming purchased the Master of Orion franchise a  while ago during Atari’s bankruptcy auction, and today they announced the reboot of the classic 4X series.

The game, developed by NGD Studios, including a few veterans of the franchise, will include 13 playable races, and will span galaxies ranging from twenty to a hundred star systems with unique stars, giving us plenty room to build our space empires.

So far, the only races confirmed are the Humans, the Bulrathi, the Sakkra, the Gnolam, the Meklar and the Alkari. On the other hand, the platforms haven’t peen explicitly mentioned. PC is provably a given, but the trailer’s description mentions “the latest multi-platform technology and graphical systems,” so there could be more.

Below you can see the announcement trailer and a few screenshots.

Hailing from sunny (not as much as people think) Italy and long standing gamer since the age of Mattel Intellivision and Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality) and MMORPGs are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans of the flight simulator genre on Earth.
