Watch A Newly Announced Nvidia GTX 1080 Running Doom at Insane Frame Rates

on May 7, 2016 5:26 PM

Nvidia just announced the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 graphics card, promising performance higher than a Titan X with more energy efficiency and drop-dead prices at $599 and $379.

But how does Nvidia’s new flagship card handle actual games? Pretty damn well if a demonstration of it running Doom¬†on Ultra settings with the Vulkan API from Nvidia’s own event is any indication.

Just check out the video below (paired with the GTX 1080’s trailer as a bonus). You’ll start by seeing extremely stable 60 FPS at 1080 resolution on the counter at the top right of the screen, but that’s not too impressive… yet. Just wait until the presenter uncaps the frame rate, and see that number skyrocket.

Looks like it’s finally time to upgrade my 970…
