Only but two days ago, we reported on a rumor that Watch Dogs, the new science-fiction title coming out of Ubisoft, would be launched on both current and next-generation titles. It appears that the answer to that question is a solid “yes and no” for the moment. The Wii U – that new console from Nintendo that has fallen into a weird gray area between current and next-generation – has been listed as a platform for the title on more than one retailer.
As reported by CVG, major retailers such as Amazon, GameStop, and Best Buy have all recently listed Watch Dogs as debuting on the Wii U when it launches sometime this year. With the identity of the next-generation consoles still unofficially unknown in addition to many cryptic answers given regarding the game’s platforms, this news comes as the first somewhat-concrete evidence (retailers have listed incorrectly before).
Watch Dogs is being developed by Ubisoft Reflections alongside Ubisoft Montreal and will be published by Ubisoft for… a bunch of platforms (presumably the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U) this holiday season (presumably).
