Watch The Debates on Xbox Live, Get Halo Avatar Award

on October 3, 2012 6:48 PM

The first presidential debate kicks off tonight at 9PM EDT, and Microsoft recently announced that Xbox Live members that watch three of the four upcoming debates on XBL will receive a set of gold Halo 4 warrior armor as an avatar award. It may be an odd incentive, but Microsoft has been pushing the political coverage on Xbox Live as of late, so it stands to reason that they want to get as many watching as possible.  It’d be in your best interest to watch, learn, and maybe partake in a drinking game or two to help keep things interesting.

Am I the only one who thinks that this does nothing but remind me that Halo 4 hits on election day? I’m not about to start up a whole brouhaha about it because it’d be beating a dead horse (and I’d hate for this site to get accused of blindly maligning MS two days in a row), but that really is the first thing that comes to mind. Either way, it’s nice of Microsoft to give people another venue in which to watch Mittens and Obeezy go at it. For the politically minded gamer, it’s a nice chance to get a gift much better than their recently announced achievement perks.
