The Boy Who Lived is entering the yellow-brick world again in Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7, the launch trailer for which is live now. As the title of the game implies, you’ll traverse the Wizarding World as Harry and his friends experience the events of The Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows entries in the Harry Potter series.
The trailer gives you everything you’d expect from a Lego game: It’s a loose adaptation of the events of the films and movies with wacky character animations and comedic mimicry. I’m pretty interested to see how the game deals with some of the rather cryptic elements of the last two books, which the films had a pretty tough time conveying. But for director David Yates it was made much easier by the use of dialogue there.
As with any other Lego game, prepare for a bevy of items to unlock and collect and it might be a good idea to keep the popcorn handy for some of those cutscenes. I wonder if the epilogue from the last book will be playable …
