The PS4 pro seems to be quite popular among developers, with many expressing their appreciation for the additional horsepower and features. During the livecast following yesterday’s press conference Watch_Dogs 2 Animation Director Colin Graham gave his impressions on the console and on what the game looks like running on it.
Graham mentioned that as a developer it’s always really exciting when you have more GPU and hardware to work with, because it allows them to be truer to their vision. When they develop a new title, they start with very high resolution assets, and then they pack them into the game and try to get them to fit them in memory, frame rate and other constraints.
Seeing Watch_Dogs 2 on the PS4 Pro, Graham continued, it’s much closer to the developers’ vision, with the detail that “pops off the screen.”
“It’s so cool to see your work look so shiny and spectacular.”
Graham also added that there is a lot of detail in the world and in the city, for instance in the texture details of the buildings. San Franciso is a very bright and vibrant place. There are beautiful graffiti, the colorful crowd walking around, and there is a lot of variation depicted in the small details. Looking at it at a much higher resolution lets you feel that difference, and it makes it feel more immersive and real.
