During Ubisoft’s financial conference call for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2016-2017, CEO Yves Guillemot talked about Ubisoft’s expectations about Watch_Dogs 2, and how the gaming community received what we have seen so far.

After launching Watch_Dogs, Ubisoft published a survey: according to the results, 85% of those who purchased Watch_Dogs in the US expressed the intention to also buy the sequel.

Guillemot mentioned that the reveal of Watch_Dogs 2 was met with “very positive sentiment worldwide.” The reveal trailer reached 30 million views. Community feedback was “strong and positive,” with gamers praising the expanded hacking gameplay and the new tone of the game.

Due to that, Ubisoft expects Watch_Dogs 2 to be one of its best-selling games of all time.

Later in the call, CFO Alain Martinez mentioned that the game has a “very high potential” as triple-A blockbuster title, and Ubisoft believes that it will sell “very close” to the sales of the original Watch_Dogs, and it might even do better than that.

The original game sold about ten million copies, so it’ll definitely be interesting to see if the sequel will manage to come close to that result.
