Update: Apparently the good folks at Polygon made a mistake, and the confirmation that the Wii U version is still going to be released didn’t come from Ubisoft, but from GameStop. Here’s the full text of the correction:
An earlier version of this story incorrectly said that Ubisoft had confirmed to Polygon that Watch Dogs for Wii U had not been canceled, when that confirmation was intended to be credited to a GameStop representative. Ubisoft has declined to comment on the status of the Wii U version of the game.
You can find the original article below:
There have been signals that the Wii U version of Watch_Dogs may have been canceled, but luckily that isn’t the case and Wii U owners can now breathe easier.
Ubisoft confirmed to Polygon (with no further details provided) that the game is still coming to Nintendo’s console, while Reuters reports that the coveted but delayed title is still slated for the first quarter of the 2014-2015 fiscal year, which starts on April 1st.
It’s definitely a good thing for Wii U owners, considering that Watch_Dogs is one of the most anticipated titles of the year. Looks like we’ll be able to hack each other blind on Nintendo’s GamePad-equipped console soon enough.
