Last week we reported that Watch_Dogs had the highest day one sales of any game in Ubisoft's history. Today, the company announced that the game has broken even more records. During its first week of release, it has sold over 4 million copies and has now become the biggest week one seller of any game from Ubisoft. This would also make it the best selling new IP "across the entire video game industry" according to Ubisoft communications manager Gary Steinman.

This is certainly great news for Ubisoft considering all of the controversy that the game has gone through since it was revealed two years ago. Overall, we should take this as a sign that people are willing to embrace new IPs. Ironically, with sales like this, it is inevitable that Watch_Dogs will become its own series and thereby not be a new IP any longer.
