We can’t really be surprised when a Nintendo developed game sells like smack in Harlem. It’s sort of not expecting fresh baked bread to sell in Somalia. With just about every Nintendo published/developed title that hits retail stores, we can expect a monstrous growth in sales. That being said, the Wii’s newly released Wii Sports Resort has sold like hotcakes here in North America, selling well over 1.25 million units as per Nintendo.
If you think that’s decent, how about knowing that their new peripheral for the Wii – the Wii MotionPlus accessory – has sold 2.9 million copies in the region; including units sold with Wii Sports Resort, 1.36 million standalone sales and 257,000 units bundled with EA’s Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10.
If you have yet to pick up the Wii MotionPlus or Wii Sports Resort, I would suggest you hold off on it for a bit. Nintendo of America has confirmed that it will now be bundling two MotionPlus units with Wii Sports Resort for $59.99. That, my friends, is what we would like to call a “bargain.” Don’t fret over the accessory and the game just yet. If you’re able to get these three items at that price, why not wait a bit, eh?
