Tomorrow (August 29th), DotEmu will release Windjammers onto PS4 and PS Vita. It will be a glorious day: one for the world to remember. But before that happens, today, the french company has released an official launch trailer for the return of the Neo Geo classic.

For all of you horrible people out there in the world who don't know what Windjammers is: it is the "original flying disc game," or in other words a sports arcade game that hit back in 1994 via Data East for the Neo Geo arcade system. Upon release the game cemented itself as a rather niche cult-classic, with a hardcore following dutifully preparing for the return of its glorious savior. It's been 22 years -- but finally that day has come.

The game's premise is quite simple: it's essentially Pong or air hockey, where two players face off in a fast-paced match where they have to throw discs at the opponent's goal zone to score points. The player with the most points at the end of the match wins. However, what isn't as simple is the throwing of the actual disc, as there are a variety of types of throws you can deploy: normal throw, toss up, curve throw, power throw, special throw, power toss up, and counter.

Windjammers boasts 5 games modes (Arcade, Local Versus, Online Quick Match, and Ranked Match), six courts, six characters (each with her and his own speed/power stats, nationality, and unique special throws), two unlockable mini-games (Bowling and Dog Distance), and most importantly new HD menus.

The PS4 and PS Vita release will also have online play, a first for the series. Accompanying online play will be trophies and leaderboard support.

Below, you can check out the new, aforementioned launch trailer. Meanwhile, enjoy today, because tomorrow the whole world changes.
