With the latest World of Warcraft expansion set to release later this fall, Blizzard is taking back inactive names prior to the release of Warlords of Draenor, allowing them to be released back in to the wild for a new generation.

In a blog post on Blizzard's Battle.net, the developer explained that the pre-release patch (6.0.2) for Warlords of Draenor will take back any characters' names that have been unused or inactive since November 13th, 2008, allowing them to be used by new players or by those using the Character Name Change paid service.

For those that do not wish to have their name reclaimed by Blizzard, players must log in to their World of Warcraft account before the patch goes live: there is currently no set release just yet for the patch to go live, so doing so sooner rather than later is best.

World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor releases for PC and Mac on November 13th, 2014.
