Worldwide Portal 2 Sales Top 4 Million

Portal 2 was actually one of the few games to come out last year that I was willing to plop down to full $60 day one for. I’d just loved the first one so much and heard so much awesome stuff about the sequel that it seemed like a must buy. Apparently, lots of other gamers felt similarly. Valve has revealed in a recent interview that since the game’s release just over a year ago, Portal 2 has sold more than four million copies globally.

Man those are impressive sales, especially when one considers the humble beginning of the Portal series. It is not clarified which versions of the game are included in that figure, but the most common assumption is that it encompasses sales of the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC versions. I’m personally thrilled that Valve found such huge success with a title that was, just a few years ago, an obscure, new IP.
