As one of the WWE's most prominent and iconic stars since the 1980s, professional wrestler Hulk Hogan has appeared in numerous video games over the last few decades, though recent news and controversy surrounding statements from the wrestler may be putting an end to the wrestler's appearance in future wrestling titles.

Publisher 2K Sports confirmed in a statement that Hulk Hogan will not be making an appearance in the upcoming WWE 2K16 releasing this fall, with the publisher explaining on Hogan's removal from 2K16 (and possibly future WWE titles):

"We are highly respectful of the way that our partners choose to run their business and manage our partnerships accordingly. We can confirm that Hulk Hogan will not appear in WWE 2K16."

The wrestler's removal from WWE 2K16 follows a string of controversy surrounding Hogan within the last few weeks, where evidence arose of a conversation from Hogan filled with racist remarks and gestures.

Since then, the WWE explained that the organization would be removing all association with Hogan on its website and other outlets, along with removing Hogan from the WWE Hall of Fame, where he was inducted in 2005.

WWE 2K16 will release for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 on October 27th, 2015.
