Perfect World Entertainment has announced their upcoming free-to-play game entitled Swordsman, which is based on the popular novel series by Louis Cha aka Jin Yong.

In this adaptation, players will explore the “grand martial arts world” as they hone their fighting skills as one of ten distinctive classes during the Ming Dynasty.

Perfect World’s General Manager of Publisher, Andrew Brown, discussed why they wanted to bring this material to the West.

Bringing Swordsman to a Western audience is something we’ve wanted to do all along. With its rich story and engaging gameplay, Swordsman is a cultivation of our previous and successful titles we’ve brought over from our parent company Perfect World Inc.

While an official release date has yet to be announced, registration for the upcoming closed beta is open now.

Former genius and a woman of mystery and power, whose power is exceeded only by her mystery, Dana Abercrombie has been playing video games since birth (yes birth...we did say "genius"). Despite her secret desire of wanting to give it all up to become a gorgeous billionaire, Dana is most passionate about video games and films often times getting in many heated debates resulting in being thrown out of many gatherings. Despite having a degree in English AND Journalism (multi-tasking FTW!) from the University at Albany-SUNY, she is currently interested in perusing a degree at Yale Law School, because one should never give up on a dream of becoming a gorgeous billionaire...and knowing how to sue someone as a result of those heated debates
